Balancing old and new at Bronze House

The design carefully balances historic character with contemporary architecture. Large areas of glazing and bronze cladding establish a distinctly modern identity for the new additions while remaining sympathetic to the original granite structure.

Challenges & Solutions

A key challenge was the significant excavation required to create the extension and pool areas. Large sections of granite bedrock had to be carefully removed within extremely tight working conditions around the existing building. Once exposed, the rock formations were point cloud scanned to create an accurate digital model, ensuring precise alignment between the new and existing structure.
