The Drawing Room has launched new not-for-profit initiative, Build for Good, to provide charitable causes in Guernsey with architectural expertise and construction support.
Working in partnership with Rihoy & Son, the initiative aims to help local charities transform their spaces to better support the vital work they do.
Our first project will support Guernsey Counselling Service LBG (GCS) in creating a welcoming and functional premises for their clients. GCS offers a professional counselling service to those in need, regardless of their ability to pay. To continue providing this essential support, GCS has recently secured its own premises, which requires a full refurbishment to make it fit for purpose.
Tom Bourgaize, Director at The Drawing Room, said: “We are incredibly proud to launch Build for Good in collaboration with Rihoy & Son to make a real difference for local charities. We are excited to design GCS’s new premises and create a space that will enhance the important counselling services they provide to islanders.”
Dan Taylor, Managing Director of Rihoy & Son, said: “We believe in giving back to the community and using our expertise to help local causes. Through Build for Good, we can offer practical support where it’s needed most, and we are excited to work alongside The Drawing Room to deliver meaningful projects like this.”
The refurbishment will include three counselling rooms, a waiting room, and a back office at the charity’s new premises on Les Vauxlaurens in St Peter Port.
We’re gifting our time to complete the design work, worth £10,000, and Rihoy & Son will undertake the construction work for free, worth £30,000.
Sarah, Counselling Director, from GCS, said: “Securing our own premises is a huge milestone, but the refurbishment is an essential step to ensure we can offer a comfortable, safe space for our clients. The support from Build for Good is invaluable, and we are incredibly grateful for their generosity and commitment. We’re excited to see the transformation.”
Build for Good is seeking donations of fixtures and fittings from local companies to complete this project. For more information and to get involved, please e-mail [email protected] or contact Guernsey Counselling Service.
