Stylish open-plan living at Fort House

This project set out to reconfigure the ground floor of this family home, replacing a dated, plastic conservatory with a light and open extension, ideal for our client’s busy lifestyle.

Our design concept focused on maximizing natural light and creating a seamless flow. We designed an L-shaped red brick and crittall-glazed extension that complemented the existing house perfectly. The open plan space provided a contemporary kitchen with an island, large dining table and relaxed family sitting area with the outlook across the patio and garden.

Key Architectural Features

  • Custom-Built Crittall Doors: Handcrafted Crittall doors were designed to echo the existing arch structures, seamlessly merging the new extension with the original features of the home.
  • Bespoke Shaker-Style Kitchen: The heart of the new space is a bespoke shaker-style kitchen, designed by [supplier name], which combines classic aesthetics with modern functionality.
  • Large Roof Lights: Expansive roof lights from ‘Roofglaze’ flood the interior with natural light, creating a bright, welcoming environment.

From the initial meeting to the final inspection of the completed work, the team at The Drawing Room have been fantastic.

The ideas and design at the beginning were exciting and dovetailed perfectly with our vision. The team then took care of all the relevant applications and engineering requirements before administering the construction contract and providing design support throughout the build.

We were pleased to manage this project from design concept to completion.
