A significant east coast renovation

Irwin Place is located on the picturesque east coast of Guernsey, offering breathtaking views of the sea, nearby castle, and neighbouring islands. Originally a 1970s bungalow, the property was in need of a complete renovation, inside and out. Our mission was to transform this dated structure into a modern, luxury home while maximising the natural beauty of its coastal surroundings.

Key Architectural Features

Structural glazing: Floor-to-ceiling windows maximise the natural light and offer uninterrupted, panoramic views of the coastline.
Modern stone and rendered facades: These materials were chosen for their contemporary aesthetic, durability, and ability to complement the coastal setting.
Statement entrance: A striking, modern porch welcomes visitors, offering immediate through-views to the sea.

Client's Brief

The client envisioned a modern residence that seamlessly combined spaces for entertainment and peaceful retreat. With luxury finishes and cutting-edge design, the home was to offer versatility for social gatherings and quiet enjoyment alike.

The brief included:

Spacious entertainment areas for hosting large groups of family and friends.
Generous outdoor terraces, designed to provide shelter from the elements while enhancing the experience of outdoor living.
A basement wine-tasting room, creating a cozy, sophisticated environment for private gatherings.

Design Vision

The primary goal of our design was to capitalise on the site’s uninterrupted coastal views. To achieve this, we retained the existing lower-ground floor structure and made significant alterations by demolishing the upper floor and roof. The new design introduced a series of vaulted, pitched roofs that followed the footprint of the original lower level. Each vaulted section draws the eye towards the expansive glazing, framing the stunning views beyond.

Project Completion

We delivered this project on site, ensuring every detail was meticulously executed. Our team of designers and tradespeople worked together to create a home that fulfilled the client’s vision of luxury, modernity, and functionality.
